Dr. Terence Cozad
Terence W. Cozad, Psy.D. earned his Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Denver in 1987, his Master’s degree in Experimental Psychology from Texas A & M University in 1980, and his Bachelor’s degree in Pre-Medicine (Biology) from Texas A & M University in 1977. He completed a clinical internship at Northwestern University Medical School and Hospital in Chicago, with additional training in child and family therapy at the Family Institute of Chicago. After his internship, he completed a one-year Post Doctorate at Northwestern Hospital and the Family Institute.

Dr. Cozad specializes in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with behavioral and learning problems. In addition, he has developed a specialized program of assessment and treatment of Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity disorder that incorporates and facilitates cooperation among parents, teachers, and primary care physicians. Dr. Cozad utilizes an integrative treatment model, developed at the Family Institute of Chicago, to resolve problems within the entire family. His unique experience working in inpatient psychiatric hospitals, as a Juvenile Probation Officer, and years of outpatient emergency and routine treatment of mental health issues makes him uniquely qualified to treat a wide variety of mental health problems.

Dr. Cozad was also trained in the assessment and treatment of chronic adult problems like depression, anxiety, personality disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and trauma. He has extensive experience treating those suffering from trauma and abuse so that they can recover and lead happier, more productive lives. His treatment approach utilizes short-term psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and self psychology to help people to quickly recover and lead more productive lives.

Dr. Cozad is a member of the American Psychological Association and the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. He is currently on the Allied Health staff of Copley Memorial Hospital and Provena Mercy Center in Aurora. Dr. Cozad has been in clinical practice since he graduated in 1987.
